What a Personal Non-Fiction Peice mEANS TO ME !
My Reflections
One great project that we did as a class was reading the novel The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison. Even though this text is banned in most schools we were able to read it and discuss this amazing novel and it's various themes. It describes how an African American girl (the protagonist) is sounded by society's view of perfection which is to be white and have blue eyes. She wishes for this beauty and a happy/perfect family. It can best be seen through a Marxist lens which means it can show that being white and rich is much more powerful than being African American and poor. White's have always been praised since back in BC, meaning they were always used as role models and powerful to everybody else. This really shapes children because they tend to envy these people and wish for their life when they are actually just as equal. Another classic that I read before this class text was Jane Eyre which is a novel that describes the story of a an orphan girl named Jane who lives a miserable life and ends up marrying a great man and living happily ever after. All these texts tend to go around the theme of power, in The Bluest Eye you have to be white to be powerful while in Jane Eyre you need to be loved to be respected and have power.
I feel that these texts really shape how are society is nowadays and what we value. In the first text The Bluest Eye it shows how the girl really values fitting into society and wanting to be pretty in order to be loved. Just like our society, many girls tend to want to be like the white models on magazines and have blue eyes because it is considered as ideal and perfect. While also in the text Jane Eyre because she was orphan no body really respected her because they knew their was no one their for her, but when she finally did find her faraway cousins and got married she was respected and treated much more better than how she did before. This is also compared to society nowadays because if you are just one person and the people you are fighting know you have no one behind your back, most likely they will treat you badly and continue because they would not be afraid.
Lastly, I believe what makes a "great work of literature" is a text that everybody can compare to or can kind of relate to with a personal or story they have heard. I believe an ideal text would be The Alchemist because it is filled with so many wonderful quotes, life lessons and stories that many people can relate to. I believe that is why it is praised by almost everybody and it is an amazing read. One needs to feel connected to a text, and it really depends on the person.

- Remember to underline title of texts
- Remember to use two types of elements like characterization or theme
- Remember to describe more about the lens than the story it self, just add about 2-3 lines about the plot and THAT IS IT!

- Remember to analyze critical lens before you start the essay :)

TASK 10:Regents Reflection
After taking the english regents I just am thankful that my hard work paid of. I used to stay up just doing a lot of multiple choice questions and studying also for trigonometry. I learned from this test to be more specific and be able to clarify my answers clearer. Their are many questions that have similar meanings and one needed to practice a lot in order to understand what to pick. I think that clarification and understanding the topic is something that I will continue to need to work on. It is because I tend to put my opinion in to the answer rather than what has been given to me.
I feel that by printing tests and taking lots of practice did help me out. What I wish I could have done is have more free time to study even though I did well on this test. In general it is goal for me to spend more time taking tests than just reviewing the subject. For the remaining half of the year, I hope to continue to pay attention in class, and do my best in my work. I also hope to continue to be determined to finish all my work on time and in perfect shape. As a person my goal for the remain of year is to try to manage my time more and eat ore chocolates :)

Task 11: Macbeth Reflection
After being able to do the Macbeth subtext art, I felt that it allowed me to understand the text much more deeper. Even though it was one part of the text, it allowed me to understand the objectives of that certain character in that text as well as the subtext beneath it. Overall, yes it did acquire me to take time and lots of discerning but it was worth it. These little interpretations all build up allowing the reader to understand the text much more and enjoy it. Of course when one is confused about whatever they are doing whether it is books or math, they tend to give up when really what ever they had given up on can be very interesting and beneficial.
After reading Macbeth one main lesson hat I learned is that no matter how much one can try to hide the truth it will always show and be known someday. Macbeth's attempt of killing King Duncan for that natural human wanting of power, yes allowed him to be powerful and become king. But on the other hand, it also effected him greatly. He was then caught by others and beheaded . He lost his life for a lie he hid and should not have done. The same with our own lives now matter how much we ay want to hide a lie that we have done that might have been wrong, someday the truth will be known. As a person after reading both "Othello" and "Macbeth" by William Shakespeare , I learned that Shakespeare does write all his work in Shakespearean language and is very hard to understand. But as soon as one understands the point of the story and what they are reading, even though it was written a long time ago it is still very interesting and eye grabbing to read (at times even relatable).

Task 12: English Reflection Class
Student lead conferences is here again, and of course it is the time were we all look at our strengths and weakness in our classes. For English class, I am doing fairly well so far. Some outcomes in English that are also in my History classes that I seem to struggle in is always "Be Precise" and "Communicate". I always tend to have many grammatical and spelling errors. I also need to learn to close off my thoughts in a more sophisticated way, but precisely without to much repetition. Other than that I m doing well in the other shout comes like "Discern", "Plan", "Create", etc.
